Maureen Denise McCormick was born on 5 August 1956 in Woodland Hills California the youngest and only child of Richard and Irene McCormick. Her father taught at school, as did her mother, who was a housewife. Michael Dennis Kevin is her three elder siblings. McCormick started singing and performing in the early years of her life. At the age of six, McCormick older, she was crowned her first prize in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley pageant.
